DANDA #067 — ClaimSafe AI: End Lost & Damaged Package Claim Chaos for Online Shoppers

Online shopping has become the default for millions, but the moment a package gets lost or arrives damaged, everything breaks down: consumers are forced into a labyrinth of phone calls, chatbots, and paperwork; small retailers face hours of customer support, while carriers drag their feet and routinely deny legitimate claims. The process is so broken that most consumers simply give up—and the e-commerce trust gap widens.

The problem

Last year in the US alone, over 2 billion packages were reported lost or damaged in transit. The average American household lost $106 to unresolvable package claims in 2025. For small e-commerce stores, lost and damaged shipments are the #1 source of negative customer reviews and churn—costing the industry over $5 billion annually in lost revenue and compensation. Filing a carrier claim (FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, Amazon Logistics) takes 45 minutes on average spread across multiple forms, uploads, and phone calls. Claim denial rates hover around 45%, largely due to paperwork errors or missed deadlines. For consumers and SMBs, the hidden cost is wasted hours and lost trust—millions of people just give up on what they’re owed.

The idea: ClaimSafe AI

ClaimSafe AI is an autonomous agent that acts as your digital claims concierge for lost or damaged shipments. It scans inboxes or order management portals, detects issues, gathers the required evidence from emails, photos, and receipts, then files and tracks claims directly with all major parcel carriers. The agent interacts with carrier systems, completes all paperwork, submits supporting evidence, re-files denials, and keeps the user updated in plain language. For small e-commerce companies, it integrates with order/shipping platforms (Shopify, ShipStation, Amazon Seller Central), automating claims at scale. Result: claim time drops from weeks to hours, denial rates plummet, refunds and replacements are maximized, and humans only step in for exceptions.

Architecture

Inputs Emails, Shipping APIs, Order Portals, Photos Ingestion Scraper, OCR, API Sync Memory / Graph Case State, Evidence, Carrier Rules Agent Orchestrator Multi-Carrier Policy, Claim Steps, LLM Agents Human Gate Exceptions, Review, Escalation Action E-file, Status Sync

The user’s email accounts, order portals, and shipping APIs provide continuous “Inputs” into the system. The Ingestion layer scrapes order and shipment info, OCRs image evidence, and syncs with carrier APIs. All data flows into a graph memory that records each claim’s state, required evidence, and carrier-specific rules. The Agent Orchestrator (LLM-driven) sequences the correct claim steps for each carrier, automatically fills and files forms, submits evidence, and tracks status. The Human Gate only triggers for exceptions (unusual cases, user review, escalations). The Action Layer automates e-filing, status syncing, and carrier portal interactions end-to-end. The gold accent highlights the seamless flow—no more human busywork.

Build plan (90 days)

Wedge: Start with a Gmail/Outlook plug-in for US consumers that detects lost/damaged packages from order emails (Amazon, Walmart, Shopify) and automates USPS/UPS/FedEx claims. Stack: Add direct retailer integrations (Shopify, ShipStation), extend carriers (DHL, Amazon Logistics), and a dashboard for SMB e-commerce with bulk filing. Launch mobile app for claim status and photo upload. Pricing: Free for consumers (10% recovery fee on successful refunds); $29/month/seat for SMB, plus 2% of recovered amounts over $1,000/month.

Why now

Package volume and failure rates are at historic highs (post-pandemic e-commerce boom). Carriers are doubling down on automation, but their APIs and support remain fragmented and user-hostile. LLM agentic automation finally enables real multi-carrier, evidence-gathering, and error-free filing at scale—solving a massive pain point for both consumers and the millions of SMBs now shipping online. Trust in e-commerce depends on this bottleneck finally being fixed—and the market is starving for radical automation to end the claim chaos, recover billions, and restore sanity to the postman’s last mile.
